The Huawei MatePad 11.5″ S PaperMatte Edition’s main feature is perhaps its display. It’s a 11.5-inch IPS LCD panel pushing a 2800 x 1840p resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio that’s also capable of up to a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and an 87% screen-to-body ratio. Being a PaperMatte display also means that it’s an anti-glare screen with a ‘nanoscale anti-glare etching’ over it that Huawei says reduces 99% of light interference, while additional ‘magnetron nano optical layers’ further reduce screen reflectivity by 60%.
Powering the Huawei MatePad 11.5″ S PaperMatte Edition meanwhile is their own eight core Kirin 9000WL system-on-chip mated to 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. It runs HarmonyOS 4.2 out of the box with support for multi-window use as well as Huawei SuperHub. Keeping the lights on is an 8,80mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. There’s a 13MP, f/1.8 main camera on the back too, while an 8MP, f/2.0 front camera is present for your video calls.
Also of note is Huawei’s new NearLink feature, a wireless technology that connects the Huawei M-Pencil (3rd Gen) to the tablet. The M-Pencil gives users over 10,000 pressure sensing levels for higher precision and lower latency when creating digital art or even just for taking notes. The Huawei Smart Magnetic Keyboard is also connected to the tablet via NearLink for seamless switching between writing, drawing and typing, with support for over 40 shortcuts and lets you set up the MatePad 11.5″ S PaperMatte Edition in various form factors such as a laptop, split form or studio form.
Other features include a quad-speaker setup with support for Huawei Histen 9.0, a dual mic array and support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity. The Huawei MatePad 11.5″ S PaperMatte Edition weighs in at 510g, and is available in either Space Grey or Violet colour options.
